The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates random drug and alcohol testing for each transportation modality. The Council on Alcohol and Drugs offers consortium services on an annual basis for DOT regulated companies falling under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guidelines. Whether you are an independent owner/operator holding a Commercial Driver License (CDL) or a small-medium sized company with at least one CDL driver, you can benefit from joining a consortium. Have a small aviation repair station or a small group that falls under PHMSA? The Council can help you manage your random requirements. A random testing consortium allows multiple employers to join together in a “pool” to maintain compliance with random DOT drug and alcohol regulations.

DOT Supervisor Training DVD

The Council on Alcohol and Drugs has designed an informative DVD based training for Supervisors to meet the DOT requirements under 382.603 relating to reasonable suspicion/cause. The training is provided in DVD format to provide a shelf life value to companies. A DVD can be reused as staff changes where an online training is charged per person. Our training solution adds great value to any company looking for long term value of training as a company grows. Two DVDs included in purchase (DVD 1 = Alcohol and DVD 2 = Controlled Substances).

All DVDs ship out same day and each purchase includes a Reasonable Suspicion Checklist.

382.603: Training for supervisors

Each employer shall ensure that all persons designated to supervise drivers receive at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and receive at least an additional 60 minutes of training on controlled substances use. The training will be used by the supervisors to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing under §382.307. The training shall include the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances.

If you have additional questions regarding this training, please email dothelp@livedrugfree.org.
